Grant Gassman - Denver, Colorado

Grant is a tube audio designer, builder and the proud owner of some very impressive Edgarhorns. Note the huge subwoofer behind the picture in the center. Grant's superb amplifier combined with the Edgarhorns produce a very big, effortless sound that is smooth and detailed. And the bass, well it's beyond what I thought possible. Very powerful but totally free from distortion, muddiness or overhang. I didn't know that bass could sound this good.

Grant designed and built his power amp using a WE417A for the input. The driver is a WE205B direct coupled to a rare, but very good sounding Telefunken RV-218.

Grant uses external regulated power supplies for his amplifier. It is an unusual but very flexible scheme. Substituting a different tube type can often be done by just adjusting power supply voltages.

The analog source consists of a VPI extended Aries, JMW 12 arm and a version of the Loesch phono preamp with globe 12As as outputs. Digital playback is through a modified Audio Note kit using globe 26s, batteries for the filaments and the DAC voltages.
