The plinth construction is a simple MDF/aluminium plate sandwich as what I see as a suitable platform to bring forth the open and clean midband of the Well-Tempered tonearm.
The bearing is secured over four glued layers of 12mm thick MDF boards wrapped in formica on all sides except the bottom. Clamps at the four corners join the MDF boards to a 12mm thick aluminium plate which has a cut-out to see off the rest of the bearing and speed sensor. The entire table (sans motor and its tower) weighs just about 40 lbs. It rests on five 3M soft rubber footers over aluminium 'coasters' atop a very light kevlar honeycomb platform which is decoupled with 2 ceramic cones and a steel spike from a granite and plywood sandwich perched on a TARGET turntable stand. -- KK
