Serial #1 - June 9 2000, Chris Brady - Broomfield, Colorado

These pictures are of the very first incarnation of my Teres (June 2000) and the finished result (Mar 2001).

The heart of my sub-chassis consists of a piece of 2 x 4 inch aluminum tube filled with lead shot, polyester resin and mineral oil. This resulted in a subchassis that is rigid and absolutely dead. The arm-board is attached via a 3/8 inch stainless steel cap screw through the center of the arm post (ala Verdier).

For greater damping and isolation from external sources the sub-chassis is embedded in a box (tank) filled with a mix of sand, lead shot and mineral oil. I think that the new polished platter is really stunning. A detailed description with additional pictures is available at http://www.teresaudio.com/haven/ (Click on the Teres DIY Turntable link).

My arm is a Wheaton Tri-Planar series IV and the cartridge is a Clearaudio Accurate. -- Chris
