The Company
Teres Audio is an evolution from the successful Teres design project.
The Teres project began as a collaborative effort to design and build a
world class do it yourself (DIY) turntable. A number of talented individuals
from around the country participated in the design process. The result was an
exceptionally good bearing and platter design. Using an innovative DC motor
controller design contributed by Manfred Huber a DC motor unit was also
developed. See the Teres Project
page for more details.
Participation in the project grew, leading to a large group purchase of
bearings, platters and motors. In the true DIY spirit, project participants
used the Teres components as the basis for a wide variety of turntable designs.
Many of these turntables are listed in the Teres
hall of fame.
Continued interest in Teres components beyond the initial group purchase
created a business opportunity. The initial Teres Audio offerings were
solely turntable components that required additional design and
construction before a usable turntable could be realized. Over time
additional components were added to the product line and eventually a complete
turntable kit was offered. The product line has evolved from simple low cost
kits to statement turntables that are among the best that money can buy.
Experimenting with various materials led to the use of exotic hardwoods
for constructing bases. We found that these dense hardwoods offered sound
quality that far exceeded any other material. The sound qualities of
exotic hardwoods led us to develop a wood stabilization technique that made
it possible to produce a hardwood platter. The extensive use of these
hardwoods has now become a Teres hallmark.
At Teres Audio we are constantly pursing new materials and techniques.
Improvements, enhancements and additions have been frequent and will most
likely continue that way. This presents difficulties with production and
also product identity. However, our priority is, and always has been, the
advancement of sound quality.
Teres sells direct to the public and relies primarily on word of mouth for advertising. At Teres Audio we have an unwavering
commitment to customer satisfaction.

The People
Chris Brady -
I am the proprietor of Teres Audio. It was my privilege to be one
of the primary organizers of the Teres Turntable project. I am a long
time audio enthusiast and have been dabbling with audio since I was a wee lad.
Over the years I have designed and built a lot of
audio equipment and love the aoutio hobby. However, until the advent
of Teres Audio I was was strictly a hobbyist without any audio business
aspirations. I have a day job as a computer Sales Analyst with Cray Inc.
So Teres Audio is a small, part time operation and it is our intention to
keep it that way. Designing and selling top of the line analog components has
been a personally rewarding pursuit.
Bryce Brady
Although not officially part of Teres Audio my brother Bryce Brady is a
major contributer. Bryce is the owner and operator of Brady Manufacturing,
a machine shop in Newberg Oregon that specializes in high precision work.
Bryce participated in the original design of the Teres bearing and platter and
brought a great deal of engineering and materials expertise to the table.
As the project evolved into Teres Audio Bryce has offered continual engineering
and technical advice that has greatly influenced the Teres product.
Max Brady
My father, Max Brady is also an important contributer to Teres Audio. Max
developed designs and prcoesses for the the gorgeous wood components. He as
always trying something new and different. He finds a new wood he likes and
the next thing I know it shows up at my doorstep. Max developed inovative
techniques for overlaying wood bases. He also deleloped and refined the wood
stabilization technique used for the wood platters. I have a love for audio
but it pales compared to may dads love for working wood. Max passed away
Dec 2007 at age 85.
Todd Brady
My brother Todd joined the Teres Audio ranks by teaming up with my father to
produce the Teres wood components. Following in his fathers footsteps Todd's
skill and craftmanship are top notch. Todd operates a small business
specializing in fine woodwork and produce many of the Teres hardwood
components.
Ryan Brady
Continuing with the family theme (no Brady Bunch jokes please!) my son Ryan
Brady developed the Teres web page and has done most of the product
photography. Ryan has a degree in 3d animation and works as a forensic animator.
Ryan is also an accomplished violinist. His acute hearing and love for music
makes him a valuable consultant for listening evaluations. For more
information about Ryan's work check out his
webpage.
